As the global mineral processing industry pushes towards greater efficiency and sustainability, Glencore Technology has taken steps towards advancements in the IsaMill™ technology.

Recognising the increasing demand for more efficient grinding solutions, Glencore Technology has embarked on a mission to revolutionise the capabilities of the IsaMill™ by incorporating coarse grinding techniques. This move comes in response to market trends favouring stirred milling technologies for their ability to optimise performance while reducing carbon footprint.

In a recent trial conducted at Hudbay's Stall Mill in Manitoba, Canada, GT showcased the efficacy of 8mm and 10mm ceramic media in an IsaMill™, while also exploring the influence of media-specific gravity. The results were nothing short of remarkable.

In a paper written by Senior Metallurgist Ion Gurnett, in collaboration with Andrew Swann, Trevor Weird and Chris Marion, this paper details the findings of the large-scale test work campaign, underscores the immense potential of the IsaMill™ to operate in this new duty. By embracing coarse grinding techniques and leveraging the latest advancements in ceramic media, GT is poised to set new standards in efficiency and sustainability within the mineral processing industry.

Trevor Weir of HudBay Minerals Inc. will be presenting this paper at CIM on May 15 at 10:30am in the Vancouver Convention Centre, West Building, Meeting Room 118.

The abstract is available to download below, with the full paper being released after the conference.
